LOS ANGELES THERAPIST: INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES & FAMILIES
About
I have an unusual background. I had another career prior to my current career as a therapist. I was a professional dancer for 15 years. I danced on screen as well as on stage. During those years, when I was off the road I went to school and finally in the early 90's became a licensed therapist.

I tell people about my earlier career because my experiences offer a unique view and understanding particularly for people who are in the entertainment industry. I have had a variety of life experiences that have enriched my clinical approach, providing a multifaceted view on life.
What have I done in the field I have chosen as my life's work? Here is "the short list" of my experiences and credentials:
  • 25 years experience in addiction, substance abuse and co-dependency; treating alcoholics, addicts and their loved ones.
  • 10 years grief, loss and end of life issues working in Hospice.
  • Volunteered at APLA as a "buddy to a person with AIDS" for 6 years.
  • Co-Founded and Co-Owned Promises Residential Treatment Centers in 1988.
  • Private Practice since 1994, providing counseling, psychotherapy and life coaching.
  • Teacher in the UCLA Extension Program's Counseling Alcoholics and Drug Addicts Certificate Program (CADAC) for 8 years.
  • Co-Created and acting President (2001-2007) for the Women's Association for Addiction Treatment (WAAT). WAAT is a networking association geared towards professional women working in the addiction treatment community.
  • Member of the Board of Directors for the Promises Foundation. The Promises Foundation supports Miriam's House, which is a transitional sober-living home for low income women and their children.
